RFID tagging operation for CC containers goes ahead on 10 January 2011 but with different procedures

FLORAHOLLAND (26 October 2010) - The industry has expressed its concern about Operation Chip-it, the tagging operation of Centralen Container (CC) that will take place at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. The intention is to equip all Danish trolleys with new RFID tags by 10 January 2011 and the aim is to monitor the authenticity and quality of the pool system. The industry says it is too expensive and too complex. FloraHolland, CC, Landgard, Gasa and the VGB are taking the concerns seriously. After intensive consultation, procedures have been adapted so that market places FloraHolland, Landgard and Gasa take a more prominent role in achieving a closed high quality pool and in detecting misuse and at the same time in avoiding extra costs for users.

FloraHolland scans CC containers for authenticity from 10 January
FloraHolland attaches great importance to the reliability and quality of the pool system and will continue to work with official CC containers after 10 January 2010.

FloraHolland is introducing scanning points to its own goods inward processes. As of 10 January 2011, containers that do not have a new tag will be rejected in all FloraHolland processes. Containers with a new tag will be scanned and accepted by FloraHolland from this date onwards. New tags that are not scannable or give an error message will also be accepted and included in the customer’s balance. Tags that are not scannable or give an error message will, however, be recorded separately by FloraHolland. Normally, this will have no consequences. However, if patterns and quantities are considered suspicious, FloraHolland will contact the relevant people.

If the situation demands it, it may be decided, in consultation with the client, to scan temporarily on site so that any misuse can be detected. This means FloraHolland, CC, Landgard, Gasa and the VGB have an active role in issuing warnings so that illegal/suspected use of containers can be detected and users do not incur extra costs.

What does this mean for customers?
FloraHolland and its customers have a common responsibility for achieving a future-proof pool. In mid-December, CC will send all customers the new tags together with a maintenance contract. These tags should be attached to the containers from 10 January 2011 onwards. You can hand in tags to FloraHolland for containers that are in storage. These will be attached for you by the auction.

Up to 10 January 2011, Container Centralen is offering users the opportunity to introduce containers to the pool at a significantly reduced rate of 6 euros in order to strengthen the current pool. After 10 January, this will raise to the previously communicated rate of 18 euros.
