In the nearby segment presentations, the concepts were translated into practical applications. In the Red and Blue Box, two exclusive inspirational areas on the Trends and Concepts Plaza, visitors were given an explanation of the rational and emotional aspects of selling through retail channels. There was also attention for social media at this edition of the trade fair. The Twitter screen was one of the eye catchers on the WINovation Plaza, surrounded by innovations and inspiring presentations. Consequently, a lot of Twittering was done by a large number of standholders and visitors.

Some sixty trade journalists from the Netherlands and abroad visited the FloraHolland Trade Fair Aalsmeer.

Trade fair for plants and flowers
The trade fair had space for some seven hundred growers' stands. This year, a remarkable amount of care went into the look of the stands. The proportion of plants remained the same compared to last year, but the number of cut flower stands had risen once again. “The supply of cut flowers at the FloraHolland Trade Fair has grown tremendously. The first time there were mostly plant breeders in attendance. It has truly become a professional trade fair for flower growers,” explains Else van den Beukel of JB Matricaria. “Buyers come here with their own clients. These are the people you want to meet. And you can do just that here!”

International HortiWeek 2011
The next major international trade fair is the FloraHolland Trade Fair Naaldwijk, on 9 through 11 March 2011. Under the heading ‘International HortiWeek', the fall edition of the FloraHolland Fair Trade  Aalsmeer, along with the Horti Fair, will take place in the first week of November of next year.

ecorum Plants BV won the originality prize of the FloraHolland Trade Fair Aalsmeer 2010. As at the FloraHolland Trade Fair in March, all stands were assessed during the trade fair. The jury was surprised by the high quality of many stands. In the end, three standholders were nominated. Decorum Plants came ahead of Flower Update and Wooning Orchids. “What the jury says about us corresponds with what we want our image to be,” explains Stefan Slijkerman of Decorum Plants. “Especially the unity our group of 48 growers shows.
