Reduction in auction costs for wholesalers

FLORAHOLLAND (26 November 2010) - FloraHolland and the VGB (Association of Wholesalers in Floriculture Products) have recently agreed on the tariffs at all FloraHolland auctions, for 2011. Wholesalers who buy at FloraHolland are going to pay less for some auction services. The reduction in costs became possible because of the efficiency benefits after the merger of FloraHolland and the Aalsmeer Flower Auction.

Last year it was agreed on a target of reducing several fees by 10% within 3 years. The proposal of the auction to implement this within two years was agreed upon in order to make the introduction of a transaction fee at all three export auctions.
The tariffs at the export auctions will now further be harmonized. The transaction fee (paid for each buying transaction at the clocks) will be now implemented in Naaldwijk (15 Euro cent) and in Rijnsburg (12 cents) as well. This additional cost will be compensated with a lower over all service fee. Various fees will be reduced, other costs like renting of real estate will increase with the price index. The auction trolley rental fee will now be equal at all FloraHolland market places. The rental fee for multi-use boxes will be increased with 1 eurocent, being the first adjustment within eight years.

The VGB delegation, the Committee of Trade, and the management of FloraHolland are satisfied with the quick achievement  of cost reductions for the traders.
