FLORAHOLLAND (17 December 2010) - FloraHolland has sharpened its information policy during the last year. This renewed approach will become visible soon. As per 2011 new rules of the game will apply. FloraHolland will provide better information, but less data will be available.
The auction produces a lot of commercially information, about quantities, prices, and transactions of flowers and plants. This information is highly valuable for businesses in the (inter) national markets. The data makes the Dutch floriculture market transparent for suppliers and buyers. More and more stakeholders claim that also personal data is exposed to everybody, and ask for careful handling of this kind of information.
FloraHolland endorses those concerns, and is sharpening its data release policy, so that the information would further assist better trading, and yet would avoid commercial damage to individual entrepreneurs.
The published information will no longer include quantities and prices of specific varieties. It will exclude every information that is not representative, like data on various grades, and data that may lead to individual growers. FloraHolland Connect’s data will no longer be available from standard reports.
Also FloraHolland employees will have access only to information that is relevant to their work.
At the same time, the quality of information is going to be improved. More ‘tailor made information’ will be available to provide FloraHolland’s suppliers, buyers, and staff a better picture of the opportunities in the market.
