Every buyer in FloraHolland Aalsmeer can participate in a training to use all the 10 cut flower clocks from a single ‘buyer seat’ in tribunes E/F. Through a special registration buyers participate in all cut flower auctions in Aalsmeer, with no need to move between the various tribunes/auction-halls. FloraHolland’s managers believe that this option has a positive impact on demand, thus better prices. Moreover, this step is the ‘opening shot’ for a big change in Aalsmeer: towards November the entire clock activities of four clocks A/B with ‘physical’ products will move to tribune E/F.
Then, the six current E/F clocks, that already function as ‘virtual auctions’, will no longer being screened on the wall in front of the tribunes, but only on the monitors at the buyers’ seats. Approximately 80 percent of most products auctioned at E/F are bought through Remote Buying (without physical present buyers). This move is supposed to utilize the saving & efficiency potential that the various virtual auctioning methods might provide.
Reliability upfront!
As per June at the auction room F products including product group Roses with incorrect supply information will be replaced later in the auction schedule in a separate auction group. Lots with correct supply information will be auctioned in the usual auction group.
