International flower supply back on the rise
FLORAHOLLAND (22 april 2010) - The international supply of flowers by air shipment to FloraHolland is gradually returning to its normal level. The recent flight restrictions mainly impacted the supply of roses and summer flowers.
Planned flights from Kenya are still experiencing delays and shipments containing mainly roses are expected this evening and tomorrow. Meanwhile, regular shipments of summer flowers from Israel have arrived by airfreight and will be auctioned tomorrow. Supply by sea from Israel of ‘hard’ products such as Waxflower and decorative foliage was not disrupted. FloraHolland expects trade tomorrow to consist of approx. 20% international products. International supply of cut flowers is expected to be back to normal by next week. Due to the gradual increase of supply, the prices of roses, gypsophila, carnations and goldenrod are dropping again. Pricing for other products has remained more or less stable during the past week.
