FloraHolland, 1 April 2010 (press release) – The integration of the virtual Tele Flower Auction (TFA) in FloraHolland is nearing completion. The first flowers from TFA growers will be auctioned at FloraHolland's Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk, and Rijnsburg export locations on Tuesday 6 April 2010. Prior to the introduction of this new group of FloraHolland suppliers, the trade can get acquainted with their products during a series of dedicated product shows. A number of ICT and logistics aspects will also be adjusted from April, simultaneously with the TFA supply integration on the auction clock.
Concentration of supply
With the integration of its TFA auction activities, FloraHolland offers its buyers extended supply concentration through a harmonized and uniform system. Furthermore, the auction brings together a valuable selection of African growers of mainly roses with their Dutch counterparts. Seventeen TFA suppliers will be linking up to FloraHolland's virtual auction clock systems and/or are using the services provided by FloraHolland Connect. This way, FloraHolland will enhance the concentration of buying power, its clout among suppliers, and its contribution to the auction system as a whole.
Changes at the Amstelveen location
The current TFA Amstelveen location requires some adjustments in the areas of ICT and logistics among others, in order for the integration to be successful. On Friday 2 April 2010 the auction clock at TFA will run for the last time, rendering the auction and distribution process in Amstelveen superfluous. Flower processing will remain located at Amstelveen for the time being. However, the Amstelveen import processing department will move to a location within FloraHolland Aalsmeer some time this summer, as soon as FloraHolland's TFA Import Handling department has been equipped.
