FLORAHOLLAND, 15 November 2010 (press release) — Each year, the flower auction FloraHolland awards De Glazen Tulp to growers and breeders. The Glazen Tulp is the floriculture industry’s most prestigious award for the best market introduction of the year. Over four rounds of voting, buyers and sellers who are FloraHolland customers can vote in the categories of cut flowers, indoor plants, outdoor plants, and concepts.
The results of the first round
The first round of voting is over. In this round, products in the categories of cut flowers, and indoor and outdoor plants were up for judging. The following new products received the most votes and will continue on to the semi-finals:
Cut Flowers
- Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Spike’ — Sonneveld Hydrangea (Bleiswijk), Pieter Kolk (Aalsmeer), Ko Kolk (Amstelveen)
- Echinacea purpurea ‘Green Jewel’ — H.J. de Boer et al. (Hillegom)

Another chance to vote
The second round of voting began during the FloraHolland Trade Fair, which took place in Aalsmeer. Visitors already received an opportunity to cast their vote then. FloraHolland’s customers can vote up to and including 22 November 2010 on indoor plants and cut flowers, including the FleurPrimeur Lilium 2010. These products are the focus of the second round of voting. In the third round, it will also be possible to vote in the categories of outdoor plants and concepts.
