To keep the clock attractive to buyers, permanent improvement and restructuring of the auction process are necessary. At the Aalsmeer location, all traditional clocks have already been replaced with large projection screen clocks. The projection screen clocks have a different screen set-up, allowing more information to be displayed. In this way, growers may broadcast their own logo and photos at the exact moment their products are being auctioned. This helps clients to make an informed purchasing decision.
Traditional clocks
At the Naaldwijk location, the plant clocks were replaced by projection screen clocks in early November 2007. For cut flowers and at the other locations, traditional clocks are currently being used in auction processes.
Image auctioning
Another development with the same goal is image auctioning. Product images are displayed instead of actual flowers and plants. Since the products are no longer physically presented for auction, after purchase they may immediately be shipped from the cold stores to the client.
